In the field of fiction, Gothic refers to a style of storytelling in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries that addresses topics such as fear, death, chaotic spaces, the domination of patriarchal ideas, coercion of women, and terrifying characters. They are its most prominent axes. This style of writing first appeared in 1764 with Horace Walpole writing The Castle of Otranto, and other writers later expanded this style of storytelling by writing worksStorytellers in the field of Persian fiction also tended to this literary style, following the influence of Western schools. Sadegh Hedayat took this path for the first time by writing The Blind Owl, and other writers followed and expanded this type of literature in Persian fiction. Although the Gothic components in Iranian fiction are not entirely consistent with Western examples, it can be argued that Persian fiction has been able to succeed in this area and even add components in some cases. The novel Prince of Ehtejab by Houshang Golshiri is one of the novels that has been written in the Gothic literary genre and the components of this literary genre can be studied in it.
