The Timurid period was an era of the simultaneous flourishing of Persian art and literature. Alongside prominent poets who were the heirs of the Iraqi style and forerunners of Safavid literature, architectural art, and especially inscriptional decorations, achieved unparalleled prosperity. This article, with a descriptive-analytical approach, examines the "manifestation of Quranic verses" as a common and fundamental phenomenon in the two fields of poetry and decorative arts of Timurid architecture. In the dimension of poetry, the influence of the Quran and Hadiths on three notable poets of this period—Khwaju Kermani, Ahli Shirazi, and Hilali Jaghata'i—is analyzed through methods such as lexical, propositional, allusive, and inspirational. In the artistic dimension, the present article investigates the application of Quranic verses in the inscriptions of mosques and magnificent structures like the Goharshad Mosque, the Timurid Friday Mosque of Samarkand, and the Kharghird Madrasa; where Kufic, Thuluth, and Naskh scripts, alongside turquoise and blue mosaic tilework, are manifested not merely as decorative elements but as an artistic expression of the divine word.
The results of this research indicate that the Holy Quran, as a unique source, played a central and harmonious role both in the worldview and imagery of the poets and in the aesthetics and themes of the architectural decorations of this era. Accordingly, the poetry and decorative art of the Timurid period can be considered two distinct yet harmonious manifestations of a common truth.
