Abstract
From the beginning of the Safavid dynasty, the art of painting has reached the peak of glory and evolution by the best painters with the governing principles and conventions. The interest of kings in Ferdowsi's mythical and epic poems to cultivate the spirit of heroism in the people along with maintaining the Islamic school, has led to the creation of Shahnameh writing in this period. One of the significant works created during this period is the amazing masterpiece of Shahnameh of Shah Tahmasp under the management of Sultan Mohammad Naghash. Sadeghi Beik Afshar is one of the leading painters in the formation of Qazvin school. After different consideration of the two paintings, the reasons for their commonalities and differences have been discussed, and the results of a comparative comparison of the painting “Houshang Killing the Black Demon” by Sultan Mohammad and the painting “The ascetic, the thief and the demon” by Sadeghi Beik Afshar, It connects us to two different political and social currents. The obvious differences between the painting of Shahnameh Tahmasebi and Soheili’s Anvar Sadeghi in the Islamic view have been the supporters of the work and the type of taste that governs a custom court copy and a personal manuscript, but the main common denominator is in the power of courage and representation of two painters. In both paintings, the reflection of new manifestations, demonography and the creation of images related to human beings and their concerns are addressed by addressing the populism and realism around them.
