Abstract
Behavioral disorders and anxiety in children are among the conditions that poorly designed therapeutic spaces can exacerbate. One factor that can help reduce this trend is the use of green spaces and green design in these therapeutic environments; in such a way that the environmental quality created by it has significant effects on the treatment process of patients and reducing their anxiety. The aim of this research is to examine and provide solutions for designing green spaces in medical centers by focusing on changing architects' perspectives in design, so that it can be effective both in increasing the environmental quality of the hospital and in accelerating the recovery process of patients and reducing their anxiety. In this research, 70 children aged 10-12 with a history of hospitalization and their families were examined. SPSS 18 software was used for data analysis. There is a significant difference between the average impact of green space design in the hospital and accelerating the recovery process of patients, reducing children's anxiety, enhancing the environmental quality of the medical center, and responding to the health and psychological needs of children. Since the average impact of green space design in the hospital on these factors is higher than the theoretical average, it can be concluded that green space design in children's hospitals has influenced these factors. For this reason, and also to coordinate with other architectural spaces for the hospital environment, designing and utilizing green spaces can be an effective step in raising the desired environmental quality and accelerating the recovery process of patients in these centers.
