Abstract
Social class can cause changes in lifestyle and the taste of individuals within it. This change in societal style and taste leads to a shift in their perspective and outlook across all levels of life, including the understanding and reception of paintings. The purpose of the present research is the impact of social changes on the understanding and reception of artworks by the audience according to reception theory. The present research is fundamental in terms of objective and, regarding nature and method, is a combination of quasi-experimental and descriptive-analytical methods. The statistical population of this research was residents of Kerman city in 2019. Sampling was of the cluster type. During sampling, using the snowball method, individuals whose socio-economic class had improved significantly in a short period were also selected. Findings showed that individuals who dedicate more of their time to viewing artworks and have greater exposure to them are at higher cultural and social levels, and individuals who have experienced relatively wide economic-social changes in a short period have still not achieved significant improvement in terms of their level of understanding artworks.
Research Objectives:

Measuring the extent of the relationship between the audience's social and economic changes on the understanding of artworks based on reception theory.

Identifying factors affecting the duration of the audience's exposure to paintings considering their social and economic changes.

Research Questions:

What effects do social and economic changes have on the type of perspective and understanding of the audience of paintings?

What differences exist among the opinions of different social and economic groups regarding the details of paintings?
