The Role of Islamic Architecture in Enriching the Educational Environment of Iranian Schools

Abstract
The educational environment and its elements, such as architecture and spatial arrangement, play a significant role in the quality of education. The present study is applied in terms of its aim and employs an exploratory mixed-methods design, conducted through both documentary and fieldwork phases. The research process for designing the curriculum guide was based on research synthesis and the ten-element arrangement of the Akker model. For validating the research, a quantitative approach and a researcher-made questionnaire were utilized. The questionnaire’s face and content validity were assessed using appropriate tools. Face validity was confirmed by experts and experienced professors. To estimate content validity, the target-content table was used, yielding a reliability coefficient of 0.87. The research population comprised the texts and statements from the Fundamental Reform Document of Education, the National Comprehensive Scientific Map, as well as professors and specialists. According to experts, the findings showed that 90% of the stated objectives, based on the Islamic normative system, are aligned and compatible with the governing principles of education in the Sāleh School model. Additionally, 90% of experts indicated that, given the dominance of the Islamic normative system in content production and the strengthening of students’ core competencies, the content of the Sāleh School guide is comprehensive and consistent with the established principles and objectives. Furthermore, 85% of experts stated that the learning activities proposed in the guide for education and training have a higher degree of adaptability to the needs and characteristics of learners, schools, and society.
Research Objectives:
·       To validate the Sāleh School curriculum in the context of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s education system.
·       To examine the impact of Islamic architecture on the enrichment of educational environments in Iranian schools.
Research Questions:
·       How is the validation of the Sāleh School curriculum in the education system of the Islamic Republic of Iran conducted?
·       What impact can Islamic architecture have on enriching the educational environment of Iranian schools?
