Abstract
Humans have always required connections with their natural, social, and human environments. Place and space, by delimiting social relations within a defined boundary, generate a sense of belonging. The present research aims to elucidate the physical criteria of commercial complexes that influence the enhancement of social interactions, seeking to articulate and analyze the relationship between these two domains. Most research questions are centered on the nature and manner of this influence on social interactions within the physical framework of new-generation commercial complexes. Structurally, the research adopts a descriptive-analytical method; in terms of its primary aim, it is applied and developmental. Given the lack of prior studies addressing the explanation and prediction of social interaction concepts in new commercial complexes within the fields of architecture, environmental psychology, and sociology, a positivist research approach is also adopted. Accordingly, through documentary and library studies, interviews, and field methods for data collection, the factors influencing social interactions are identified and, using the Delphi method, the main criteria are refined. Ultimately, the findings indicate that the sense of place and mixed-use functions are the most influential criteria in enhancing social interactions. Bam Land is also among the new commercial spaces where the issue of social interaction can be examined.
Research Objectives:

To develop a substantiated theoretical foundation regarding the criteria influencing the enhancement of social interactions in new-generation commercial spaces.
To refine the criteria affecting the enhancement of social interactions in new-generation commercial complexes through a case study of Bam Land, Tehran.

Research Questions:

What criteria influence the enhancement of social interactions in new commercial complexes?
Which criteria have the greatest impact on the enhancement of social interactions in new commercial complexes?
