Abstract
Although stylistics has a history of several thousand years, in the contemporary period, the perspective on poetry and literature underwent a remarkable transformation, and the examination of poetic style and method also became systematized with new principles and rules. Among the topics of stylistics that attracted the attention of critics is the examination of musicality in poetry, which, utilizing traditional rhetorical rules, is divided into four types. Mohammad Reza Shafiei Kadkani is one of the prominent critics and literati who is an authority in this field. The present research, employing a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to examine and analyze the poetry of this contemporary literatus in terms of musicality, to reveal what types and characteristics the poetic compositions of Shafiei Kadkani possess regarding musicality. The results of the research indicate that words and combinations in the outer layer of his language are arranged in a harmonious and proportionate manner. The musical proportionality of words overshadows all his poems and has given them coherence and solidity. In terms of external music, Shafiei's poems are very rich. The most important factor enriching this music in Shafiei's poems is the element of repetition, which has manifested itself in various forms such as phonetics, repetition of a hemistich, repetition of a line, repetition of a word, and repetition of a sentence. The existence of various types of puns, such as redundant pun, derivation, quasi-derivation, complete pun, and techniques like arrangement and inversion, have also bestowed a specific music upon his poems. Just as the element of music in contemporary poetry arouses emotions, in contemporary Iranian painting, the presence of imagination plays a significant role in emotional arousal.
