The story of the Noush Afarin GoharTaj is a folk and prose tale of the Safavid period which its writer is unknown. This story is about the love of Ibrahim, the Chinese prince for Noush Afarine GowharTaj, the princess of Damascus. the tale explains the efforts, battles and courage of prince Ibrahim to reach Noush Afarine GowharTaj. Folk culture (folklore) is a nation's cultural and spiritual heritage and a product of their thoughts, perception and emotions that have remained by word of mouth and heart to heart throughout the ages from the past to the present. Different elements of folklore are widely seen in this work, including; weird creatures, amazing events, strange places and objects, religious beliefs, superstitious beliefs, social customs and manners, ironies and proverbs. This article, while examines folklore in GowharTaj’s tale, explains samples of each of the elements of folklore. In the examination of folklore and its reflection in GowharTaj's tale, different aspects and dimensions of the lives of ordinary people can be seen. This piece of work contains important and valuable content from the Safavid period culture and to some extent Qajar. Popular beliefs and faith are widely reflected in it.
